"Metalina" roses are fantastic for that truly vintage look. They have a delicate aged quality with a distinct violet hue, and a subtle scent of violets.
Kept cool and hydrated these roses last for weeks.
There are often slightly brown edges of the petals, this is completely natural and I think adds to the antique, vintage charm. They are not always readily available and will need to be specially ordered through the wholesaler or importer. If you wish to have a similar bouquet for your wedding, the roses would definately have to be pre-ordered.
There are similar colours more readily available but I think the Metalina are worth trying to get.
As Metalina roses speak for themselves I simply handtied them with gorgeous rust coloured foliage, which intensified and complimented their wonderful lavender, lilac, coppery colour. The bride's bouquet was completed using satin ribbon, vintage lace and a vintage brooch for the handle.
For the bridesmaids bouquets I used one rose as a focal point, surrounded by flowering viburnum, large headed Antiqua carnations, and a collar of glossy camellia leaves.
They were very pretty with a " just picked from the garden feel".
The handles were also finished with satin ribbon and vintage lace.
The table decorations were a stunning collection of vintage cups and saucers and milk jugs, arranged in a loose style with the same flowers as the bouquets. They add a wonderful nostalgic, timeless quality.
