Vintage Metalina Wedding

"Metalina" roses are fantastic for that truly vintage look. They have a delicate aged quality with a distinct violet hue, and a subtle scent of violets.

Kept cool and hydrated these roses last for weeks.

There are often slightly brown edges of the petals, this is completely natural and I think adds to the antique, vintage charm. They are not always readily available and will need to be specially ordered through the wholesaler or importer. If you wish to have a similar bouquet for your wedding, the roses would definately have to be pre-ordered.

There are similar colours more readily available but I think the Metalina are worth trying to get.

As Metalina roses speak for themselves I simply handtied them with gorgeous rust coloured foliage, which intensified and complimented their wonderful lavender, lilac, coppery colour. The bride's bouquet was completed using satin ribbon, vintage lace and a vintage brooch for the handle.

For the bridesmaids bouquets I used one rose as a focal point, surrounded by flowering viburnum, large headed Antiqua carnations, and a collar of glossy camellia leaves.
They were very pretty with a " just picked from the garden feel".
The handles were also finished with satin ribbon and vintage lace.

The table decorations were a stunning collection of vintage cups and saucers and milk jugs, arranged in a loose style with the same flowers as the bouquets. They add a wonderful nostalgic, timeless quality.

Contemporary Decorative Heart Bouquet

Heart Shaped Wedding Bouquet with a turquoise and silver wire collar and sparkling turquoise leaves.

This is a contemporary design consisting of carnations, snowberries and aspadistra .

A  modern twist on the traditional bridal bouquet. the delicately frilled petetals of the white carnation frame the heart. Three large headed carnations decorated with pale pink pearls provide a focal point  with the aspadistra adding drama and movement. The design is finished with individual snowberries.

This would be delightful for a Winter wedding and could be made more seasonal with other colours and materials for Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Pink Country Trug

A delightful arrangement of "Sarah Bernhardt" Peonies, Alstromeria,  Gypsophila and Green Hypericum Berries in a country trug basket finished with a raffia bow.

Modern Retro Shower Bouquet

This  Bouquet is a mix of contemporary and retro styles. The materials are fully wired in a shower style which looks back to the styles of the 1940's and 50's when materials were scarce and flowers were spaced apart.

Striking Gloriosa Rothschildiana flowers are exotic and luxurious. Originating from South Africa they are also known as the Flame Lily or Glory Lily. In this bouquet open Gloriosa  flowers are combined with red Hypericum Berries, yellow Craspedia, Galax leaves and Beargrass.

This style of bouquet is very light to hold and is a stunning alternative to the more traditional trailing shower. The design is completed with the addition of decorative wire and beads in the form of leaves and spirals which adds a contemporary twist,  the handle is wrapped in white satin ribbon with a co-ordinating cerise pink ribbon trailing bow.

Rosebowl

This loose romantic arrangement of roses, antique carnations and thistles in a vintage cut crystal rosebowl would be lovely for a wedding or special occasion or even as a thougghtful gift.

Glamelia

The Glamelia is a composite flower using individual Gladioli blossoms assembled together to resemble a Camellia flower. The Victorians were very fond of the Camelia, which flowers early in the year for a short time only, so they devised a way of being able to reproduced it later on in the year. This beautiful but fragile design has a collar of  pink oak leaves.

Vintage Shower Bouquet

A lovely mixture of subtle tones make up this medium sized natural style trailing bouquet.

Avalanche and sweet avalanche roses, antiqua carnations with snowberries, spray carnations, alstromeria, and garden foliages and herbs makes this smell as good as it looks.

I chose flowers that were very open for maximum impact and a cottage garden look.

For a wedding bouquet that has to look good for one day, and in the photographs I don't like to use all tightly budded flowers. A nice mixture of open and closed is ideal.
